What is Born Zippy?

Born Zippy is an Irish brand of adaptive clothing for children with additional needs. It was founded by Aoife, a mom of two, after she could not find zip-back pyjamas in Ireland for her son, who has Down syndrome and autism. Born Zippy makes back-zip pyjamas, swimwear and incontinence swim pants.

What are zip-back pyjamas for?

Born Zippy zip-back pyjamas are one-piece pyjamas with a zip up the back, designed to discourage undressing at night. The zip fastens at the neck with a Velcro closure inside a gusset. They are soft, breathable and made from 92% cotton and 8% Lycra. Aoife designed them for her own son.

What ages and sizes does Born Zippy make?

Born Zippy sizes are written as ages. Zippy pyjamas, swim sets, togs and swim shorts come in sizes 4-5 years to 9-10 years. Custom pyjamas and the Dino and Leopard swim pants come in sizes 1-2 years to 9-10 years. Surfboard swim pants come in sizes 1-2 years to 16-18 years, for older children and teenagers.

Does Born Zippy make custom pyjamas?

Yes. Born Zippy makes custom pyjamas for €45, in sizes 1-2 years to 9-10 years. You choose short or long sleeves and legs, the print, and an adaptive opening for a G tube or other need. Custom orders take 2 weeks to make, and delivery time is added after that. Custom orders cannot be returned.

What does Born Zippy make for swimming?

Born Zippy makes incontinence swim pants for children, and swimsuits and swim trunks that match them. Swim pants cost €25 on their own, or €30 in the teen sizes 12-14 years to 16-18 years. They also come matched with a swimsuit or swim trunks in a Maxi Swim Set for €60. The fabric is rated UPF 50+ and resists chlorine and seawater.

What are Born Zippy clothes made from?

Born Zippy pyjamas are 92% cotton and 8% Lycra. Born Zippy swimwear is 87% polyester and 13% Lycra, rated UPF 50+ and resistant to chlorine and seawater. Tags are sewn on the outside so they can be removed.

Where does Born Zippy deliver, and what does it cost?

Born Zippy delivers across Ireland and Northern Ireland, to the UK and worldwide. In Ireland and Northern Ireland, tracked delivery is free on orders of €60 or more; under €60 it costs €4 for standard post or €7 tracked, and usually takes 2 to 4 working days. Can I return an order?

Yes. Born Zippy accepts returns within 14 days of delivery. Items must be unworn with tags attached, and swimwear must have its hygiene seal intact. Email bornzippy@gmail.com first; return postage is paid by the buyer. Custom orders cannot be returned.
