Our Story

I’m Aoife, mom of two boys, living in Dublin. 

One of my sons has Down syndrome and Autism, and finding suitable clothing for him was proving a huge challenge!

I needed pjs with a zip up the back to stop him undressing at night, but this wasn't available in Ireland.

It meant waiting longer and paying more than I should when ordering from overseas.

So, I decided to do something about it!

That something is Born Zippy - home of colourful and funky clothes for children with additional needs.

And it's not just pyjamas. The more I researched, the more I realised just how lacking in supply we are for all clothing for children with additional needs. 

When I spoke to other parents, they were in similar situations for the same and other items. 

I’m determined to make clothing for children with additional needs a priority, not an afterthought. 

We need adaptive clothing to support children in self-dressing, self care, empowering them as they grow.

Readily-available clothing, without the stress.

The quality of our material is soft and breathable, ensuring comfort. 

We also have our tags on the outside, so they can be removed easily if needed. My son loves to feel a tag!
